FISHING IN ADYGEA

Before that (since 1888), its territory was called “Kuban hunting” and was exploited as a place of aristocratic leisure of the Great Russian princes of the Romanovs. For this purpose, a special agreement was concluded with the Rada (the “parliament” of the Cossacks of the Kuban region).
The Russian government tried to limit the shooting of local animals in 1913 and 1916. However, only the Bolsheviks managed to turn these places into a protected territory from 1919 to 1924. Since then, it is possible to hunt only on a few small lands of the Adygea slopes of the Main Caucasian Range, which lies to the north-east of the reserve boundaries.
Hunting in the Republic of Adygea also takes place on the territory of 3 more zakazniks (protected areas) – Maikop, Shovgenovsky and Koshehablsky. Wild boar, roe deer, wolf, fox, jackal, hare, field and forest fowl are available there. The hunting period for the mink is extended. The main hunting season is summer-autumn and winter. Local feature: the local meadow bird is allowed to be shot only from July 10 to August 4.
