Cod is a fish of the Gadidae family. It is distributed in the northern seas.
Young fish feeds on small crustaceans, and after reaching spawning age they switch to herring, saury, capelin and their own fry. Pacific cod eats navaga, pollock, octopus, crab and shrimp.
The spawning period occurs at the end of February – May.
Spin fishing and ledgering are the best methods of fishing.
