BASHKORTOSTAN REPUBLIC

Republic of Bashkortostan (so-called Bashkiria) is one of the largest subjects of the Russian Federation. Located on the territory of the Southern Urals and the Urals, historically bearing the name of the indigenous people – Bashkirs. This administrative unit is the easternmost region of the Volga Federal District. It borders on Udmurtia, Tatarstan, Perm krai and Orenburg region, as well as with the subjects of the Ural Federal District. Bashkortostan is called “the edge of the rising sun” (in fact the sun always appears from the southern Ural mountains). The territory of the republic is 143.6 thousand square km. The population is 4 million people. The capital of republic is Ufa, which is a city with a million inhabitants. Ufa occupies the 8th place in Russia in terms of population.

FISHING IN BASHKORTOSTAN REPUBLIC

Fishing in republic of Bashkortostan is primarily a recreation with fishing tackles on the banks of large rivers – Belaya (Agidel), Ufa, Demа, Simа, Nugush, Ikа, Urshak and Ashkadar. What is more, their long tributaries – Sterlya, Bui, Uy, Mindyak, Bolshoy and Maly Kizil, Karmasan, Bilekes, Bolshoy and Maly Inzer, Ural, Yuryuzan, and Sikiyaz are good for fishing too.

There are about 400 large and medium water arteries in the region. There are pike, perch, cod, catfish and several species of carp. The Ufa River is the target of many fishing trips. Fishers often come to the village of Matavla. The village stands on the arm of the river Ufa. “Bridge with inscriptions” will take you to the other bank, where a convenient fishing cordon is located – a house, a household structure for gear storage, etc.

Fishing in the Republic of Bashkortostan also successfully takes place on local lakes such as Akrash, Aksakov, Arakul, Asylikul, Atavda, Yalta, Uchaly, Vorozheich, Kashkadan, Bann. And many others (there are at least 800 lakes here). In addition to some predators, there is a large roach, bream and tench in terminal reservoirs.

There are two “seas” in the region – Pavlovsk and Nugush. Especially large pike, bream and catfish always bite here. There are a lot of particularly picturesque shores on the Nugush reservoir – at the villages of Sergeevka, Nugush and their northern settlements. Reed thickets can be already found in many backwaters.

Fishing in Republic of Bashkortostan has some restrictions related to the spawning season. At spawning pits, the described leisure is strictly forbidden at this time, and it is possible to catch fish in other places with the use of only two fishing rods. Such representatives of the ichthyofauna as a common bullhead, Russian sturgeon, sterlet, common taimen, brown trout, European grayling and Russian spirlin are included in the Republican Red Book.

HUNTING IN BASHKORTOSTAN REPUBLIC

Bashkortostan lies at the turn of Europe and Asia. Partly for this reason, this land has a huge variety of natural resources, as well as the most beautiful rare-hilly and mountain-forest landscapes. What is more there are 72 swamps in the intermountain hollows, saturated with all kinds of wild game.

Hunting in republic of Bashkortostan takes place on the territory of more than 100 hunting grounds of common use. Over 140,000 hectares of commercial land are reserved for them. The local events have their own regime, connected with hunting seasons – spring, autumn and autumn-winter. The main supervision and coordination of all the activities of the huntsman service is performed by the NGO “Association of Hunters and Fishermen”.

Hunting in republic of Bashkortostan is more connected with shooting moor, meadow, upland and waterfowl, as well as foxes, brown hares and ferrets. These animals are the most widespread in Bashkiria. Shooting wolves and crows is materially encouraged.

A feature of local hunting is that it is banned in the territory of urban districts, as well as 6 districts. The first ban is connected with the presence of a large number of populated sectors, the second – with the presence of a large number of protected areas.

Hunting in Republic of Bashkortostan is limited to the Red Book. It includes all birds of prey (live mainly on the peaks of mountain reserves). Aas well as such animals as otter, maral, mink and muskrat. The number of wild boar (its stock is trying to be restored artificially). Steppe marmot, badger, beaver, lynx, bear, roe deer, moose. And some other terrestrial mammals is controlled. At one time nearly 400 species of different fauna disappeared in this region (most of them – bats, as well as eared hedgehog).
